Brendan Chao
began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in New York,
prosecuting felony crimes with the Major Crimes Bureau.
Mr.
Chao
began his civil litigation career with the law firm of Wilson,
Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker where he gained extensive
experience defending to verdict, high-profile premises security
matters for the New York City Housing Authority as well as
several large privately-owned cooperative housing developments.
Mr. Chao
was a member of the trial team that successfully defended the
Columbine Sheriff’s Department in the many civil actions that
ensued from the tragic shootings at the Columbine High School in
1999.
Mr. Chao gained extensive experience in the area
of employment law working with Liddle & Robinson where he
litigated and negotiated the resolution of a variety of
arbitrations and employment contract disputes in the securities
industry in the areas of discrimination and wrongful
terminations, including: Title VII, ADEA, ADA, ERISA, and state
and city discrimination claims. Mr. Chao has had enormous
success litigating employment related claims before the NASD,
the AAA, and federal and state courts.
Mr. Chao
was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps where he
commanded an M-60A1 Main Battle Tank, and was stationed at Camp
Lejeune, North Carolina. Mr. Chao attained his BA from the City
University of New York, Queens College, graduating with Phi Beta
Kappa honors in 1993. Mr. Chao earned his JD degree from the Washington & Lee School of Law in Lexington, Virginia in 1996.
